Your guide to growing a man bun

The man bun isn't just for hipsters or rockers anymore. This hairstyle is becoming increasingly popular, and lots of people seem to want one – even Matt Damon, who recently sported a fake one at a press conference. Keep scrolling to learn how to grow your own!

The ideal length for a man bun

Long or bob-length hair will give you the best man bun, but if you don't mind having a mini one, all you need is a few inches of hair. Do you prefer to leave your locks on the shorter side, but still want to be able to sport the man bun? Ask your barber to give you an undercut. Tell them to leave the top portion of your hair longer, that way you can tie it up into a semi man bun.

How to help your hair grow faster

While you can't grow long locks overnight, if you keep your mane healthy, it will reach man bun length at a pretty fast rate! Go for regular trims (every 6 weeks or so) to get rid of split ends, always use conditioner after shampooing your hair, and splurge on intensive hair treatments when you can. If your hair is on the thinner side and you want a fuller man bun, ask your hairdresser about Aminexil Advanced or Serioxyl. Both treatments will help make your mane more voluminous for the ultimate man bun!
