Thick hair is definitely a blessing, but you probably consider it a curse whenever it gets wild and out of control. Follow our advice to avoid those "bad" hair days from happening and to keep your thick locks looking strong, shiny and voluminous –in a good way.
Get the right cut
It's easy to become content with a hairstyle and not want to change up your look, but if you'd like to stop your hair from becoming big and frizzy then you'll have to make a trip to the salon for a new cut. It's very important to trust your hairstylist and follow their advice because they'll be able to determine what's best for you and what haircut will compliment your face and overall style best (i.e. if you wear it straight or curly most of the time). If you have long hair they'll probably recommend getting layers which can make your mane a bit lighter. If you have short hair then they'll most likely try to keep a bit of volume in your hair for texture, but possibly razor the ends to keep your locks from feeling too heavy.
Learn how to style it
First thing's first: make sure to keep your locks healthy and well-nourished by doing weekly treatments at home and going to the salon for more intense ones once every couple months, at least. Next, aim to wear hairstyles that will beautifully showcase your thick locks: think big braids and half-up half-down styles, which can help control volume even further. Also be sure to invest in styling products that are formulated for thick hair like Messy Cliché from L'Oréal Professionnel to tame your mane and add a bit of shine.
