Scrunchies, hair wraps, butterfly clips... 90s hair accessories are making a comeback. People are starting to find them cool again and adding them to modern-day hairstyles in order to give them a special touch and make otherwise 'classic' looks appear different and unique. Read on.
If we had to choose one iconic accessory from the 90s it would be the scrunchie. It may have dropped in popularity over the years, but it's making a fashion revival and adding retro fun to our buns, ponytails and braids.
The hair wrap
The colorful hair wraps from our summer beach vacations are back. This time around they're considered bohemian and labelled as 'hippie chic.' They're the go-to hair accessory to complete a music festival look and any hair color can pull off hair wraps, so embrace your inner wild child and try them out!
The crimper may be considered a hot tool, but the style it creates is an accessory in itself! This look was seen in American Horror Story last season as well as on the Spring/Summer 2016 runways. It adds a 90s rock touch to hair and suits blondes especially well.
The flower and butterfly clips
Back in the day butterfly and flower clips were extremely popular - everyone seemed to wear them, including celebrities like Sarah Michelle Geller and Britney Spears. However over time they became outdated and gained the reputation of being a 'little girl' hair accessory. These clips are back in 2016 and are being added to various hairstyles again as a way to stand out.
Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake wore the bandana back in the 90s, but we're pretty sure if we asked them what they think of the look today they would tell us it's a beauty faux pas. However, little do they know that the bandana is fashionable again and being worn like a headband, in true pinup rockabilly style. This is one accessory we believe we'll be seeing a lot of, especially this summer!
