The French are known for so many great things: delicious food, beautiful architecture and gorgeous hair. We've decided to investigate the latter by exploring two hair trends, the croissant bun and French girl hair – which one's more your style?
The hairstyle: The croissant bun was seen this winter on the Chanel catwalk during the Paris Haute Couture Fashion week. It's got a Star Wars vibe to it and the inspiration for the look was drawn from a Picasso sculpture that the hairstylist came across.
The style: If you're going for the classic Chanel croissant bun then it needs to be made large with a big foam roller, and lots of shine serum like Mythic Oil will need to be applied to smooth everything down. If you prefer a softer look and something a bit more subdued, then you can ask your hairdresser to give you a retro Gibson tuck.
What the editors say: Top models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner looked absolutely gorgeous sporting the style at the show, but it's a unique look that demands a certain kind of confidence to pull off. It is however, very elegant and can really bring your outfit to another level.
French girl hair
The hairstyle: French girl hair is a very natural look that is subtly chic and doesn't need to be perfectly coiffed. The hair is colored a rich brown, cut into layers and bangs.
The style: Lots of texture is what really makes this look. The new Tecni.Art Line appropriately called 'French Girl Hair' can give fine or thick hair lots of texture in only a few minutes, something that would normally take hours to achieve. Ask your hairdresser for more information and use your salon visit as an opportunity to get a trim or even some bangs if you really want to channel your inner French girl.
What the editors say: This style will most likely require a coloring appointment and a cut, but it's not too high maintenance to maintain. If you enjoy rocking the bedhead look often then this style is for you – you'll be saying Bonjour in no time!
