Mini bangs or ''baby bangs" as they are often referred to - are everywhere. Here's an insider look into the style that appears almost as if it's straight from the Roaring Twenties, just with a 90s twist!
The Hair Trend News team recently had the chance to interview L'Oréal Professionnel's Japanese ambassador, hairstylist Tomohiro Kobayashi, to discuss upcoming hair trends. According to him, the Spring/Summer 2016 season will be dominated by one look in particular: short bangs, or ''baby bangs'' which have been seen all over the runway recently.
Inspired by the 1920s, when short but feminine cuts were considered scandalous, bold, and daring, very short but thick bangs accompanied angled, blunt and curly bobs. In the 90s the bangs came back into style but were thinned out for a 'rocker' vibe, and instead of bobs, they were worn on long hair and even layered hair.
Today, thanks to pop culture trendsetters like Beyonce, Katy Perry and especially Yolandi Visser (a singer in Die Antwoord, a South African musical group), baby bangs are definitely making a comeback. Fashion designers like Ungaro, Giles, Madsen, Fendi and Christopher Kane are also jumping on board with the trend: blunt, razored, rounded... all different types of baby bangs were seen on the Spring Summer catwalks!
