There are multiple ways you can get long hair waves depending on the time available, your natural hair type, and the tools you have to hand. Let's take a look at five ways to achieve a variety of long hair waves.
Overnight cascading curls
If you prefer not to use heated tools on your hair to prevent damage, no problem! This is our overnight hair hack for long hair waves from the moment you wake up.
Tie your hair into a high ponytail then separate into 3-4 sections. Wrap each section around a soft curler, folding the curler at each end to prevent the hair slipping out. Then sleep!
In the morning, unwrap your hair, remove the ponytail and shake out the hair to discover your stunning curls.
Beachy long hair waves
It's possible to get naturally tousled long hair waves even outside the summer months. All you need is the Wild Stylers Beach Waves spray by Tecni.ART, a barrel brush and a blowdryer.
After washing, apply the Beach Waves spray to the lengths of your hair. Take a 3-inch section of hair and wrap around the barrel brush. Blow dry, gently pulling the brush out of the hair as you move down the lengths. Repeat throughout the hair. Use your fingers to break up the waves for more of a tousled finish.
Messy textured waves
Textured hair is one of the biggest hair trends this year. To give your waves some attitude, use the Savage Panache hairspray from the Wild Stylers 60s Babe collection by Tecni.ART.
After washing your hair until it is almost dry, apply the Messy Cliché spray down the lengths. Then take a 2-4 inch section of hair and twist it. Before it starts to curl in and around itself, use your blowdryer (in a downwards direction) to complete the drying process. Release the hair, then take a new section and repeat. When all the hair is done, run your fingers through to break up the waves. The result: perfect long hair waves with a textured, messy finish.
XXL Hollywood curls
If you dream of large, glossy waves (or curls) that would look right at home on the red carpet, look no further! Use the Siren Waves cream from the aptly named Hollywood Waves collection by Tecni.ART.
Apply the Siren Waves cream throughout the hair after washing, then blow dry. Divide hair into a deep side part, then use a curling iron on 3-inch sections of the hair, from halfway-down the lengths. Shake your hair to loosen, but do not break up the waves*. Finish with an anti-frizz, dry-hold hairspray like Infinium 4 by Tecni.ART.
*Breaking up the waves will create a tousled effect that we're not after for this look. Hollywood waves are all about being smooth, glossy and voluminous.
Do you prefer more natural-looking waves that give your hair a boost of character without distracting from your face? The "natural" look is growing in popularity throughout the beauty industry. Here's how you can add some subtle waves to your long hair.
Wash hair as normal, then apply a heat protectant like the thermo-active Constructor spray from Tecni.ART. Blow dry, then twist a mid-sized section of hair around itself. Run a flat iron very lightly down the section just once. Release the hair and shake out the wave*. Repeat on the rest of the hair
*By releasing the twisted hair right after applying heat, you ensure the curl doesn't become too pronounced. For a more visible wave, leave the hair twisted after applying the hot iron.
