Stuck in a rut and struggling for Christmas hairstyles? How about this year we forget about going over the top, and instead try a look where the wow factor is subtle but still highly effective. Quality, not quantity. Here are three hairstyle possibilities for you this holiday season...
If you're looking for a Christmas hairstyle for medium length hair, this arty creation could be a winner. Not only is it unique and creative, but it's also super quick to put together, all thanks to just six shiny bobby pins!
Step 1. Blow dry your hair smooth, then tie up as much as possible in a high bun, twisted around itself.
Step 2. For the lengths at the back that aren't long enough, tie them into a ponytail at the base of your head.
Step 3. Pull the ponytail upwards towards the bun and tuck in the ends if possible
Step 4. Use six shiny bobby pins in pairs that crisscross over one another, to secure the ponytail against the head.
Step 5. Spritz the back section with Infinium Pure by L'Oréal Professionnel. Hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, it offers strong hold without any stiffness. Finished!
Let your color do the talking
Back in the day, it used to be that colored hair had to pretend it was totally natural. Roots were a no-no, and don't even mention visible hair growth! These days, however, things are thankfully a little more relaxed. In fact, some of the hottest hair trends, like this high bun, deliberately show off the contrast between what you got from Mother Nature and what you got from your favorite hair salon...
Step 1. After washing and towel-drying, use the new Nourishing Oil from the Source Essentielle collection. Heat up a few drops, leave to cool slightly, then apply down the lengths and ends.
Step 2. Use the concentrator head on your blowdryer to fully dry the hair smooth. A paddle brush can be a lifesaver for naturally tangled hair.
Step 3. Flick your head upside down and tie your hair into a ponytail at the top of your head using a small elastic. Use a comb if necessary to smooth out the top and back sections when tying.
Step 4. Take the ponytail and wrap it around the base so that it covers the elastic. Tuck the ends under and away, using a bobby pin to secure if you have to.
Step 5. Give yourself strong hold and some extra shine to show off that color using the iconic Elnett hairspray, a favorite backstage during Fashion Week. And there's your Christmas hairstyle!
Not just any old ponytail
A classic Christmas hairstyle, the ponytail is practical for keeping hair out of the face while still showing off your length. But sometimes it can get a little...dull. So, no offense to the ponytail, but this Christmas we're giving it a touch of class.
Step 1. Hair needs to be thick and healthy to swing properly (a ponytail has to swing). So start in the shower, with the Anti-Breakage haircare Inforcer collection from Serie Expert.
Step 2. Blow dry smooth, then give your hair a little touch of unexpected texture using the Savage Panache hairspray from the Wild Stylers 60s Babe line (only down the lengths). One or two sprays will be enough.
Step 3. Use a comb to smooth the top section and bring the hair together at the base of your head.
Step 4. Tie into a ponytail leaving one 3 cm section from underneath loose.
Step 5. Use this section to then wrap around the base of the ponytail and tuck underneath to hide the ends. Your Christmas hairstyle is complete!
