What was old is new again: meet the neo-fringe

Love the look of a fringe but not ready to get the chop? No problem, this latest hair trend is bang on the money...

What is a neo-fringe?

Fashion trends, as they always do, come in circles. So it's no surprise that this look might seem a little similar to those worn in the 1940s, when bangs moved away from the ultra-blunt flapper fringe of the late 20s and into softer, swooping and wavy styles. Here, however, retro bangs are given a modern edge - hence the "neo" – by not actually being bangs at all. Huh?

How to style a neo fringe

This fringe can be achieved without reaching for the scissors. In fact, the longer your hair, the better. Instead, after blow-drying smooth, take a comb and separate a front section of hair, going back about 3-5cm. Pull this section forward, then twist it around itself so it starts to coil naturally. When this happens, take the hair and position it just below and the forehead line so that it looks like a wavy fringe. Tuck the ends under the flat hair and secure with a bobby pin before finishing with some hairspray (we recommend Infinium Pure from L'Oréal Professionnel ).

What products to use for the look

For your neo-fringe to look its fullest and shiniest (limp hair doesn't work on this style) you need to inject your hair with some volume from the get-go. There's no better place to start than the shower, with a shampoo and conditioner formulated to treat damaged, weakened hair, giving you a thick, healthy and voluminous result. Choose the from Reconstruct, Rectify and Restore ranges by Pro Fiber, offering a variety of treatments for different hair types and needs.

To help keep the look in place, a little texture can go a long way. Spritz some Infinium Pure hairspray onto your palms, rub together, then run down the lengths of your hair before styling.
And there you are, one neo-fringe (which isn't actually a fringe at all, but ssshhh)!
