We sat down with the social media guru and fashion designer Nabiila (@Nabiilabee) to ask her about her recent collaboration with L'Oréal Professionnel!
L'Oréal Professionnel : Hi Nabiila, tell us about this project, Check my hair, with L'Oréal Professionnel!
Nabiila : L'Oréal Professionnel are campaigning to make hair coloring more appealing and diverse, so that it's accessible to everyone, not just for those who need to cover their greys, but to include young people; giving them yet another means of expressing themselves. I'm always on board with all things inclusive and expressive!
How did you collaborate with L'Oréal Professionnel?
It was crazy, L'Oréal Professionnel whisked my brand partner and I to Paris for a couple of days where we had meetings with the L'Oréal Professionnel team. The room was full of inspiring people with so much experience, and they were turning to us for advice on how to connect with young audiences. I couldn't believe it, I felt so privileged!
Are you a hair color addict, and have you ever done anything crazy with your hair?
Oh yes, of course! I love coloring my hair, I've been doing it for years. As for crazy...well, I shaved my hair really short once, and I dyed my hair blue last week - I've always been into getting my hair dyed crazy bright colors, from pink to green to orange!
What about the concept of Haircolor is the new make up ?
I love it! The color of your hair makes such a difference. Whenever I get my hair done I feel like I don't need makeup as I already feel dressed up. It really adds that extra something special to your look.
So you like #colorfulhair! What color would you be tempted to have next?
I really want to try lavender or powder pink and silver! They're definitely the next colors I want to play with.
In your opinion, is there a link between self esteem and one's hair color and/or styling?
Self esteem is really important in terms of expressing your identity, so when your hair feels and looks healthy and you have dyed or cut your hair in a way that makes you feel empowered it's great because you are showing a different side to yourself.
In the video, we can see that hair stylist Matthew Collins plays a major part in our intern's future. Do you ever go to your hair stylist for help?
I always get myself to the salon when I need some love and attention! You can go in not necessarily feeling great about yourself and leave feeling on top of the world and ready to face what is coming next knowing that you are looking your best self. To sit there and be pampered and chit chat with someone who you're familiar with – They help to transform the way you see and feel about yourself.
